In my first 3D model, I was faced with a challenge. The idea was an anthropomorphic monkey. While I have dealt with cartoon-like projects, the animals with human traits was different. Very different. As I got started, I looked at a few references of hat the monkey will look like. the furry examples won't be possible at least for this semester. At this point, I will just use my knowledge of monkey body parts and form my own primate. The body was the easy part; the feet were nice and big, the toes matched a monkey's toes, the hands were left as human-shaped, and the body was slim and mobile. The difficulty came with the modeling of the face. The eyes were no biggy; using connect and pinch would fix that up quickly. The ears were medium-level. When I put them through turbosmooth, they pretty much looked like really weird earphones. I decided to give the ear the Connect-Pinch treatment. The final part was the mouth. The jaw was challenging because I did not know whether to extrude the mouth outside or keep it within the head piece of the model. I went with extrude option and with a few touches, it came out alright. The nose was put in after that. It was just two holes. This was good practice for making cartoon characters. I might use this knowledge if I have to do anthropomorphic animals again.
